The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has visited the Limpopo building accused of racially segregating toilets, saying the allegations are true.

"We visited the building and we found what was alleged in the media is actually true," SAHRC spokesperson Isaac Mangena said according to Sapa.

"We got in touch with the owner of the building and he says he was not aware of the toilet situation," he said.

The Vleissentraal office block in Louis Trichardt made headlines yesterday after a report by The Sowetan said that tenants in the office block reported having to use certain toilets based on their race.

When contacted by Sapa, the building owner denied that the toilets were segregated.
The SAHRC has said that the matter may be taken to the Equality Court if the owner does not cooperate.

"The final resort is to go to court if the landlord does not co-operate," Mangena said.
An investigation has been launched into the matter.
