Galaxy S10 Leak Suddenly Exposes Samsung's Radical Smartphone
As its 10th-anniversary model, Samsung is determined to make a splash with the Galaxy S10 and industry leaks back this up exposing a taller display, triple rear cameras, ’ultrasonic’ in-display reader, smoother software updates, 5G support plus a genuine Face ID rival. And on top of all this, Samsung is going to get more adventurous as well…
OnLeaks, aka the ever-reliable Steve Hemmerstoffer, reveals the Galaxy S10 will look different to every previous Samsung phone as the company is planning “no less than 9” all-new gradient color schemes. Furthermore, Samsung itself appears to be confirming this.
Speaking last week, Samsung Mobile Division CEO DJ Koh teased Chinese media by saying the Galaxy S10 will be released in “amazing” colors. And what have Chinese smartphones been praised for over the last year? Their ambitious gradient color schemes.
Interestingly, Hemmerstoffer says Samsung is also about to finalise the Galaxy S10 design as “PVT is just around the corner”. PVT stands for ‘Product Validation Testing’ and it’s introduced when a device has reached its final build. If the tests are passed then this is the version which will be mass produced and shipped to customers.
Of course, it isn’t just Chinese companies driving this design change from Samsung.
Apple has been lauded for launching its upcoming iPhone XR (arguably the most exciting of its new iPhones) in six colors: White, Black, Blue, Yellow, Coral and (PRODUCT)RED. The iPhone XR is expected to outsell the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max combined.
Needless to say, managing the inventory of so many colors will be a headache for Samsung but it’s a far better strategy than the company’s current approach of drip-feeding new colors on the market as its phones age, in an attempt to rekindle interest.
